April provides comprehensive legal services to her clients primarily in the areas of insurance, mass tort, construction, and real estate. She has experience representing plaintiffs and defendants, agents and brokers, public and private owners, developers, contractors and subcontractors, suppliers, engineers and architects, and bonding and insurance companies. She brings to bear a wide range of experience on various projects and cases of regional and national scope and prominence.
April is committed to her clients throughout the litigation process. When possible, she helps her clients develop strategies for quick and early resolution but, if required, she's always ready to take a case to trial. Her goal is to get the best possible result for her clients in the shortest time and for the lowest cost. Proper documentation, damage mitigation tactics, and skillful legal positioning of her clients from the start lead to early settlement or a more effective presentation of her client's claims at trial.
Before returning to school to study law in 1998, April was a paralegal for several renowned construction litigation attorneys. Her professional career then focused on insurance defense and complex civil litigation. In 2014, April crossed the aisle and began representing plaintiffs, bringing with her over 10 years of litigation experience on the defense side of the bar. All told, she has over 20 years of experience in the legal industry - from construction paralegal to solo practitioner to civil litigator representing major international corporations in complex litigation.
April earned her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Kansas State University and her law degree from the University of Texas. While at K-State she was actively involved in the Equine Program and received numerous scholastic awards. At the University of Texas School of Law, she was a John B. Connally scholar and editor of the Texas Journal of Women in the Law. She participated in numerous clinical programs resulting in hundreds of hours of courtroom experience before she even attained her J.D.
April is the single parent of a successful young entrepreneur, Roxanna, who has always been the light of her life. She is committed to animal welfare and rescues and fosters abandoned pets for several area organizations. She is also deeply committed to the future of her community and this nation, and is an active member of many local, national, and global environmental and political groups.
